The College Valley Hunt

THE COLLEGE VALLEY HUNT

On the twenty fifth of October, nineteen hundered and fowarty three,
Aa'll give ye's aall particulars, if ye'll listen unto me,
The hound from the College Valley, their appointments to fulfil,
They cast away ower Yeavering Bell, bold Reynard's blood te spill.

Chorus;
Tally-ho, hark away,tally-ho, hark away,
Success te the College Valley Hounds, oh! Hark, hark away.

Now at ten o'clock that morning, they reached the Yeavering Bell,
And they searched the ground all over, but they couldn't find the smell,
Till the celebrated Rosabel, she found their favourite hole,
And she turned her heed unto the pack, right loudly she did bawl.

Now these hounds was called together, with speed Aa do declare,
And by their heed bold Shiela, she drove Reynard from his lair,
He headed north with aall his might, but he got a big surprise,
For te meet a maiden in a field so early, dazzled Reynard's eyes.

Now these hounds ran out se gallantly, they ran them by the mill,
With loud cries and energies, brave Reynard's blood te spill,
The hunters being far behind, they thowt their day was done,
But they met the hounds returning with two foxes instead of one.

Now these animals they did their best, their precious lives te save,
But knaain' that their race was run they prepared for the grave,
Death was their fate, they both did own, dispute it if ye can,
For they killed yen at the Cuddy Stane, and the other at the Hoolith Crag.

So let's drink a glass te the College lads, and pass the bottle round,
O'er lofty hills and mosses now their melodic voices sound,
These lads is famed throughout the land for the huntin' wi' the hound,
From the Glendale te the Carter Bar, ne equal can be found.
