Billy Mitchell was born on Tyneside although he lived in Canada for a while.
Back in the UK, he joined Jack the Lad, and at the end of the Seventies he formed Maxie & Mitch with Peter McIntyre, mixing humour and music in a highly entertaining way.
In 1996, he was recruited by Lindisfarne and worked with them until their final concert in November 2003.
