Eric Boswell was originally from Wearside, but lived the later part of his life in rural Northumbria. Perhaps his greatest commercial success was the Christmas children’s song Little Donkey, which has been recorded by many stars, including Gracie Fields, Nina & Frederick, and the Beverley Sisters.
He was a prolific composer, with many of his songs taking a hilarious look at life in the North East. Eric died in 2009.
